Deborah FanninDeborah D. Fannin, BA, MPA, is Synergy’s President and Chief Executive Officer.  “Debby” is the founding member of Synergy Healthcare Services, LLC, and possesses a national background in long term care management.  She began her career as a nursing home administrator in 1980 in her home state of Kentucky.  Since then, she has directed the management of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, retirement communities and long-term acute care hospitals in over 20 states over the past 29 years.  She advanced her career while working for some of the long term care industry’s leading companies at all levels of management:  Administrator, Regional Vice President, Division President, COO, and CEO.  From 1990 to 1996, she assisted Integrated Health Services to grow its managed division of long term care properties from 9 in 1990 to over 200 nation-wide by the end of 1995.  As Division Vice President, she opened and ran a western division for IHS, based in Stockton, California.  The division included more than 30 long term care facilities in California, Colorado, and Washington.  She was later transferred to operate IHS' larger eastern division with facilities located in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, and Georgia.  She was responsible for 4 Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals located in South Carolina, Texas, Arizona and Florida.  Her background also includes chief operating officer for an exclusively assisted living provider and Senior Vice President of Operations for a New England based provider of nursing homes, home health services, temporary nursing personnel and rehabilitation.  She was also CEO of a nursing home Company based in Cleveland, Ohio and just prior to forming Synergy, Debby, as Division President, assisted Tandem Health Care to grow its Florida Division from 6 skilled nursing homes to 21 in less than two years.  Her division led the company in census, compliance, and financial performance.  Debby is also a certified ALF Administrator.

M. Elva Gonzalez

Maria Elva Gonzalez, BS, MHSA, is Synergy’s  Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer and partner in Synergy Healthcare Care Services.  “Elva“ is responsible to manage all financial/accounting functions including our entire revenue cycle, month end and year-and reporting, tax planning and  returns, cost reporting, and executive reports to Owners or Boards of Directors. Elva played an integral part in the selection process, set-up and transition of Synergy’s nursing homes to our accounting software, and most recently in bringing payroll processing in-house for all Synergy facilities. Elva completes and files our Change of Ownership and Provider Enrollment applications and has worked with the states of Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky on Medicaid provider applications as well. She works closely with Synergy’s reimbursement consulting specialists, Moore Stevens Lovelace in Florida and Tennessee in the analysis of expense classifications to favorably impact our reimbursement rates and in Kentucky with Deming, Malone, Livesay & Ostroff. Prior to joining Synergy, Elva had more than 15 years of experience in the health care industry, primarily in start-up organizations, where she specialized in delivering positive results during periods of rapid change and expansion. Elva spent 8 years with the National Parkinson Foundation Rehabilitation, Inc, where she was responsible for all financial and accounting functions at its corporate and remote site locations. She led an expansion that grew NPF from 3 to 33 facilities nationwide through the entire process of start up to shut down of entire operation.
